craft sil for plastic brooch

Postby kathrynn on Thu Nov 13, 2008 8:39 pm

hello again. I have been using the silicon putty for making moulds from plastic pendants etc and thought I might give the craft sil a try.
My main problem is once I have cast the resin into the mould and let it set, I can't demould it. Should I use a release agent or do you think that I didn't leave the craft sil long enough before pouring clear resin into it?
Thanks a bunch

Casting Resin into Silicone Moulds

Postby aldaxmoulds on Fri Nov 21, 2008 1:07 pm

I am not too sure what is going wrong. What is not setting the silicone or the resin and what type of resin are you using. Thoroughly mix the silicone amd leave overnight to set. Remove the mould from the mould box or container that you have made it in. There is usually no need for a release agent for polyester, epoxy or polyurethane resins. Mix the resin thoroughly according to instructions and pour into the mould. CraftCast for instance sets in 3 minutes andcan be removed in 10 minutes from the mould. Let me know if I haven't covered your difficulty and we will soon get you casting like a veteran. Stan
