Hi .
i have been making moulds from the craftsil 750 for use with epoxy resin to make jewellery - they slowly deteriorate after each cast by either tearing or getting a rougher surface on the piece cast. My last cast I did the mould really stuck to the resin for some reason, and the mould is completely ruined. Just want to know how many casts would you expect to get from the silicone moulds and is there something that will not deteriorate so much over time.
Thanks

Hi,
There are several things you can do. Firstly you will get longer life spraying a wax release such as J Wax into the moulds, buff then follow with PVA mould release before casting although silicone does not normally need a release this helps give a longer life to the silicone and better surface to the resin. Wash the moulds regularly with warm soap and water to remove traces of the resin.Silicone is usually regared as having a longer life with resins than polyuretha nes. Stan
